Who we are
This website, newelofknowledge.com, is run by Lewis Corse, trading as Newel of Knowledge ("I", "me", "we"). I'm responsible for any personal data collected through this site.
Contact: lewis@newelofknowledge.com
What I collect
- Your email address, when you subscribe to the newsletter.
- Email engagement data, such as whether an email was opened or a link was clicked. My email provider records this so I can see which emails are useful.
- Basic technical data, such as your IP address and browser type. These are processed automatically by the services that host and run this site (see below).
This site doesn't use analytics or advertising cookies.
Why I use it, and the legal basis
- To send you the newsletter, free resources you've signed up for, and occasional emails about my programs and products. The legal basis is your consent, which you give when you subscribe.
- To keep the sign-up form free of spam and abuse, and the site running securely. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in protecting the site.
Unsubscribing
You can withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email, or by emailing me. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect anything sent before you did.
Services that process your data
- EmailOctopus: stores the subscriber list and sends the emails. EmailOctopus privacy policy.
- Google reCAPTCHA: used by the sign-up form to block spam. It may collect device and usage data and set cookies. Google privacy policy · Google terms.
- Google Fonts: provides the website's font. Loading it sends your IP address to Google.
- Netlify: hosts this website and keeps standard server logs. Netlify privacy policy.
I don't sell or rent your data, and I don't share it with anyone else except where the law requires it.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK or the European Economic Area. Where they do, they rely on approved legal safeguards for international transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.
Buying a program
My programs are sold through Podia. If you buy one, your purchase and payment details are handled by Podia under their privacy policy.
How long I keep it
I keep your email address for as long as you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, it's kept only on a suppression list, so you aren't emailed again by mistake, unless you ask me to delete it completely.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR), and similar laws elsewhere, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your personal data, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw consent at any time. To do any of this, email lewis@newelofknowledge.com.
If you're unhappy with how your data is handled, please get in touch first and I'll do my best to sort it out. You also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), or to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
The newsletter isn't intended for anyone under 16, and I don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If this policy changes, I'll update it here and change the date at the top.
